An Encouraging Word from your Pastor

December 2019

Happy December!

The holiday season is upon us and it comes with a mix of emotions. For some, this is your first Christmas season with your first child and you can’t take enough pictures, then for others this may be your first season without a loved one. The holiday season brings with it many feelings & emotions, but it should come with one focus. George Whitefield in his Christmas hymn, “Hark! The Herald Angels Sing” reminds us of this great purpose. In 1754, Whitefield pinned the words:

Hark! The herald-angels sing
“Glory to the newborn king;
Peace on earth and mercy mild,
God and sinners reconciled”
Joyful all ye nations rise,
Join the triumph of the skies
With the angelic host proclaim
“Christ is born in Bethlehem”

An interesting side note on the textual history of this song is that it was originally called a “Hymn for Christmas-Day” in 1739, written by Charles Wesley. In the original lyrics by Wesley, it read “Hark! The herald-angels sing “Glory to the King of Kings” until George Whitefield changed it to “newborn king” in his 1754 version we’re familiar with today, “Hark! the herald angels sing”.   The purpose of the season was beautifully pinned in this great Christmas hymn, in which “Christ is born.” An Old Testament prophecy that some scholars believe was prophesied over 300 times came true in that fact that Christ indeed was born! Let us rest in that hope this Christmas season. No matter the emotions that may come up in your life this holiday season, remember “Christ was born” and as a result there is great Hope for tomorrow! As Wesley originally pinned, may we this Christmas give great glory to the King of Kings!!

Church family, we have had an incredible 2019 and are trusting in the Lord that we will finish the year strong. Since June, we’ve experienced great growth numerically, but may we never forget that every number has a name, every name has a story and every story has a destiny! With that said, let me share some amazing things the Lord has done in 2019 so far:

  • Our church has grown by over 9% a month and we are watching new families visit weekly, come back and getting plugged into our church each and every week. We always hear people say that Trinity “ is the friendliest church they have ever attended.” That is because of you!! Thank you church for being so great!!! Let’s keep it up!!
  • Our giving has been up on average 15+% a month (not including December). This is absolutely amazing!!   I am praying that we finish strong in our end of the year giving as we keep living in obedience giving back to God all that He has given to us. I often say, it is not about how much you give that’s important, but rather that you live out of obedience to the Lord with what He has entrusted to you in giving your tithe (10% of every paycheck) back to Him.
  • We have also seen God use Growth Track to plug in all the new families that have been coming into our church in getting them plugged into service and small groups. If you are not a member of our church yet, wanting to serve, or wanting to get plugged into a small group or you just want to know more about Trinity Baptist Church, then Growth Track is for you!
  • All of our Next Generation ministries (Preschool, Children, Students, & Young Adults) are exploding and are impacting & discipling the next generation in an incredible way!!

Church, my family and I are so thankful for you! It’s an honor to shepherd you and to do life with you. Let’s always keep our YES on the table as a Church today and trust God to take care of our tomorrow! Great days are ahead! C’MON CHURCH!!!!!
