July 2020 Blog

What an amazing first year at Trinity Baptist Church!!!  On Father’s Day, Jennifer, McKenna, Parker and I celebrated being in Yukon and Canadian County for ONE year and what a year it has been for us!!  We have seen many come to know Christ, 86 have been baptized and the church has grown by over 85%. God gave us our mission as a church body that “Together We” will see a mighty move of God happen in lives and home all over Canadian County.  We have hired Baron and Taylor Cage in our student ministry, along with Cody and Penny Dunbar to lead our worship ministry. We lived through our first worldwide health pandemic and had to close the doors to the church and went online only for 6 weeks through COVID-19. We currently find ourselves in the middle of coming back, but during this unprecedented time we have seen 156 people go through Growth Track. And church, there is so much more!!  JUST WOW!!!

I remember driving with my family over a year ago when we were still living in Fayetteville, Arkansas and asking the question, “Are we all in for this?  Do we all feel that this is of the Lord has and that Trinity is the place for our family?”  I remember praying with Jen and our kids because we were moving teenagers into a new community to start over again in middle school and high school, praying that if this is the church that the Lord wanted us to go pastor then is the Lord saying YES to all of us; and He did!! My family and I could not be more thankful to be in this together with all of you at Trinity Baptist Church and it’s exciting to see all that the Lord is doing to use you and our church to reach our area for the Gospel of Jesus Christ!

Taking a step of faith is scary and even can be fearful at times because of the unknown, but when you truly trust in the Lord, His path and His plan for your life, above your fears you will experience God-sized moments!!  1 Kings 17:14 says, “For this is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: ‘The jar of flour will not be used up and the jug of oil will not run dry until the day the Lord sends rain on the land.” Always remember the Lord will provide all that you need.  The people longed for rain for they were in a drought.  And as a result of the drought, nothing would grow, yet Elijah says to this lady “The jar of flour will not be used up and the jug of oil will not run dry.”  You might feel like all hope is gone!  You might feel like your tank is empty.  Yet, the Lord will provide for you!  He will not leave you empty and dry!

I want to encourage you to not miss how God is blessing you today so that you can rejoice in His victory for you tomorrow.  All your prayers may not have been answered yet, but you still are called to live faithful to the Lord and recognize in your faithfulness how God is providing and blessing you in your current journey.  I believe He will provide “rain” for the drought you are praying for but no matter what, you are to be faithful with today!!  Let’s not miss the blessings in ‘the droughts of life’ so that we can rejoice when the rain comes, because it will come! Remember, Proverbs 16:9 “In their hearts humans plan their course, but the LORD establishes their steps.”

Church, I truly believe God has something in store for us here at Trinity that is larger than we could ever imagine.  2020 has been a different and challenging year for everyone. And we can all say AMEN to that – but let’s continue to be faithful with what he has given us today and keep trusting Him with our tomorrow.  Let’s keep loving Jesus, loving others and reaching people for Jesus together.  “Together We are a Reaching, Discipling and Sending church impacting generations for Christ!”
