Psalm 57:7 “My heart is confident in you, O God; my heart is confident. No wonder I can sing your praises!”

David just got to the cave in Addulam where he was hiding from King Saul, as Saul was out to take David’s life. The one that was anointed to be the next King of Israel, was now being pursued to be killed. When the Lord does not provide your desires, in your timing, is your immediate response in the moment still to proclaim “My heart is confident in you, O God!” (Psalm 57:7)

David finished this Psalm saying “Wake up, my heart! Wake up, O lyre and harp! I will wake the dawn with my song. I will thank you, Lord, among all the people. I will sing your praises among the nations. For your unfailing love is as high as the heavens. Your faithfulness reaches to the clouds.”

Never forget that the Lord has a plan for you and it will be fulfilled in His timing and through His ways, but we must stay faithful along the journey. Never lose your confidence in God even if life seems to take a turn in a way you never expected!!! He is with you. He is for you.

As I am working from home, I have been reading through the One Year the Chronological Bible with many of you, and I have also been reading a Psalm each day (most days) in the order where I started. This really feeds my soul emotionally as well as spiritually. So I would like to share some blessings that I received today from Ps.47.

Remember to old chorus that we used to sing at Trinity, that went like this: “Clap your hands, all you people, Shout to the Lord with the voice of triumph, Clap your hands, all you people, Shout to the Lord with the voice of Praise, Hosanna…”.

I’m sure that Psalm 47:1 was the inspiration for the praise song, “Shout to the Lord.” So the message for us today would be, ‘Can we clap our hands for the goodness of God toward us, and shout to Lord for joy, with a loud, triumphant voice for who He is and what He has done for us? Clapping and shouting because He loved us and sent Jesus for us… for saving us, for protecting us, and for all the blessings He has given to us!

Verses 6-7 again tell us just to stop and praise the Lord! “Sing praises to

God, sing praises! For God is the King of all the earth; Sing to Him, a psalm of praise!” The news from this world can really get us down, and in your own life there might be some real uncertainties due to the pandemic. But we can always shout to the Lord with praise, clap our hands to the One who loved us and gave His life for us, and ‘Sing to Lord.’ Why don’t you just stop and sing to Him today, praise Him and even clap your hands for His wonderful love for you?
