September 2019

Church, can I give you this short encouragement today from 1 Peter 1:15-16. “But as the one who called you is holy, you also are to be holy in all your conduct; for it is written, “Be Holy as I am Holy”, Peter was referencing Leviticus 11:44-45 here and reminds us of the high calling on our lives of holiness. Holiness, or in the Greek, the original word “hagios,” means to be separated, set apart, or sacred. Peter is simply challenging us in these verses to live our lives set apart.

A call to live different!!

I want to encourage you today to live different in the way you respond to others, in your marriage or in your singleness, in the way you raise your kids, in how you treat others, in how you lead out in our community, and in your faithfulness to give back to God off your “first fruits”. Live a life that lives out Ephesians 5:1 “Follow God’s example, therefore, as dearly loved children and walk in the way of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.” May we all live the life that reflects the One whom we have surrendered our life too.

Let’s make this very practical today of how we can live this out:
1. Spend time in God’s Word daily.
Some of my favorite resources for this:
– The Chronological One-Year Bible.
– The One-Year Bible
– There are many Bible reading plans available on the You Version Bible app
– Boyd Baily’s Devotionals: “Seeking God in the Proverbs” or “Seeking daily the heart of God”
– “New Morning Mercies” by Paul David Tripp

2. Set time in your life to Read God’s Word Daily. Calendar it!

3. Create a prayer list and pray through it every day.

4. Journal
This does not have to be extensive, it can be a short sentence, what you were challenged by in something you read from God’s word for that day.

5. Chose to repent and turn from and SIN in your life and turn to the Lord in your choices daily!

6. Memorize Scripture
If you are not sure what verses to claim for your life – you can literally “Google” scriptures to help you combat the sin that “so easily entangles you.” (Hebrews 12:1-3)

Be sure and make note of the 5 announcements below for the coming events in the life of our church. Invite someone to come with you this Sunday!! It’s going to be a great day! You are an incredible people! My family and I are so blessed to be a part of Trinity Baptist Church and I consider it a high honor and privilege to be your pastor!

Praying for you,
Brian Mills
